Thank FUCK cuz it feels like I woke up. Aries season begins the wheel of the astrological year and energetically it feels so much better than the US New Year did.
Pisces is the 12th. Ruled by Neptune, we end to begin. We end subconscious behaviors, level up in our dreams and intuition, reconsider our approaches, letting the past stay in the past.
I welcomed the Spring Equinox first on my friend’s farm. Housesitting is the best, especially when it’s an old PA farmhouse with its own resident friendly ghost.
OSTARA: The Spring Equinox Sabbat
The Sabbats are the festivals and celebrations of the pagan calendar. Followed by my ancestors, I have a goal of observing them all this year. Right when light begins to emerge for longer days, temperatures warm and I consider maybe not all of life is hopeless. Ostara honors Eos, the gentle goddess of dawn. She sprinkles dew drops onto the world every morning and reminds us we can start over and are never too old to do so. Spring cleaning is encouraged.
It was a great week and a painful one. I am learning to hold both…but some moments I have to just let it out. Filling out behavioral forms on my father really drove home the point this week that he is no longer the slick put together boss Cap rising Dad who held all the reins anymore. He is just an old, destroyed, demented and slightly childlike man. He turns 60 next week and it is wrecking me SO: after a good long bawl, I did what I do best: Smoked and manic cleaned.
As I did so, I felt the urge to create something beautiful and an Ostara altar emerged:
Crystals and runes were cleaned:
I lit a yellow candle to welcome the sunshine and pleasure into my life. I added crystals that correspond with cleansing, renewal, confidence etc and earthy tones throughout.
Isn’t the fairy caYUTE?? My mom makes magic creatures and junk journals. Perks of having hella cancer placements I guess. I built the terrarium with fake foliage and an electric tea light some time back. I charged my family tarot deck (Celtic Seers) and cards that I had pulled for myself.
From the Rose Victorian Tarot I asked the theme of Aries season for me and got The Fool so that was very affirming of the wakefulness and optimism I have been working to cultivate as well as new endeavors. Ace of Wands was further challenging me to work on how I speak to/about my abilities and myself, and the JourneyMen highlighted the need during this transit for me to spend quality time with my loved ones. The book is from the magical Brambly Hedge series about a country community of witchy folk field mice and I loved them as a child and adult.
As an offering to my ancestors and guides I gave:
Flowers from a bouquet I got Ren
Apple Cider I got at the Farmers Market with a dash of cinnamon
And deadass, the cider has been DRUNK because it is markedly less today and my cat has not been able to access it. Guess they liked it!

I’m in an upcoming music video by Philly Based Band Rubber that drops in May. Andrew and John are great friends of ours and they needed extras for their shoot so Ren and I signed up. Tattooed Mom in South Philly is a killer bar and collage/sticker/emo/queer haven. It’s an honor supporting other queer/fluid creators! Their music is some of my favorite around.
