Hi everyone! Some housekeeping notes:
MY BOOKINGS WILL BE CLOSED BEGINNING MARCH 1.
I am taking the month off because I haven’t stopped taking bookings since 2019 and I want to devote more time to my writing and my practice. I will open again April 1 and this newsletter and other content will still be going out in the meantime.
Today, I am honored to get to share Mo and her work with you. In May of 2021, I met a group of spiritual workers in a zoom class generously hosted by Novaa Network In the last year, this group of people have been my friends and supporters. They lifted me up during a very tough period and they truly have shown me what spiritual community has the ability to be!
I WILL BE TAKING BOOKINGS THIS WEEK!

An Interview with Mo Thee Mystic:

What made you get into your spiritual practice/who taught and inspired you?
Death is very taboo. When someone I loved died, it exposed me to a world of taboo topics, practices, and experiences. I learned that you never really “get into” spirituality, it’s all a part of who you are anyways. A fundamental part of spirituality is actively learning and broadening your knowledge in general. But I feel as though I was specifically guided to certain practices and information that closer connected me to not only myself, but my ancestry and lineage as well. This was perfect because as I mourned the worldly loss of this loved one (my great-grandmother), I was able to connect closer to her on a spiritual level.
A lot of what I know and practice now is primarily self-taught. There are a couple elders in my community who have advised me— but for the most part I’ve been in the field figuring shit out on my own. But as I figured shit out, I realized that a lot of what I was learning had already been taught to me before I ever sought out this information. So when you ask, “what made you get into your spiritual practice” it’s hard for me to even answer appropriately because this is just how I live. My ancestors lived this way and I am following suit.
What is your most popular/favorite service to provide?
TAROT!!! The people love it. It’s fun for them and for me. Tarot isn’t what the common man thinks it is. I take pride in the fact that I am able to teach people what it really is and what it can do for any individual. Tarot is a lovely tool & practice for anyone on their spiritual journey!
Where do your practices stem from? Ancestral taught or self taught?
Tarot is something I found myself. I do feel as though I was guided to it over any other form of divination. I taught myself everything I know, but I still take advice from those who are more experienced than I am. With tarot, like anything else, practice makes perfect. And not only that, you learn by trial and error. So yeah, this one is all me.
What makes you feel powerful and happy in your spiritual path/journey?
Knowing how my universe works. On this journey, I’ve taken so much time for mindfulness that I notice certain patterns and karmic cycles that take place over time. Essentially, I know what my actions will result in. I know when certain events will take place. I know when certain characters will pop up. I feel like I have a firm grasp on how The Universe affects my experience. But that certainly doesn’t mean that I always know what’s next. My intuition has grown and strengthened SO MUCH. Being connected to my higher self makes me feel powerful.
What are some important lessons/wisdom you wish to share?
A book can teach you many things but it can never teach you what experience can. GET IN THE FIELD!!!!!
GATEKEEP YOUR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY!!!!! Everything isn’t everyone’s business. I know we get caught up in that feeling of familiarity and community, but everybody doesn’t need to know what you’re up to. Some things are meant to be kept between you & your spiritual squad.
Any pet peeves/appropriation in the spiritual communities you wish to speak on?
Generally speaking, I think it’s not uncommon for people to capitalize off a practice or teaching that they have not taken the time to gain significant knowledge on. nuff said on that one.
Follower count or popularity does not correlate to someone’s acumen. People gravitate to whoever has the most numbers because they think, “oh, well this person is more known so they must be the best”. Don’t get me wrong, you cannot deny someone’s knowledge, experience, and wisdom no matter how much acclaim they receive. BUT….. There are more accounts out there than none whose intelligence and abilities don’t add up to their accolades. Some of the most talented, gifted, and brilliant people I know are still underground and continue to be overlooked because some folks can’t get past numbers.
How can we best support you and your work?

Anything else you want to share?
Being a part of groups and communities online is perfectly fine, however it’s just as important, if not more, that you find people in your actual communities to engage with. I know it’s easy to think there’s no one around. But you literally won’t know until you get out in the field. Set the intention to find like minded people around you, and so it will be.
WEEKLY RECS:
It’s Pisces SZN they will all hurt your feelings.
Starting off strong with my Pisces Board I have been slowly curating:
Water for My Seeds by Thierra Walker
Thierra is a “wellness wordsmith” based in the Philly area. I came across her book at a RECPhilly show recently and I can’t stop telling everyone about it. Her prose really helped me frame some things and ask myself some hard questions. It is beautiful and it will def make you wanna annotate the whole damn thing.
The Double Lives of Queer Church Musicians by Me.
A personal essay with testimonials from others that is very close to my heart. AutoStraddle prioritizes trans and queer voices and I really enjoy their platform and articles. I hope you’ll read mine I am very proud of it. :)
Sound Healing Session - I went live with my crystal quartz bowls and some mood lighting this past week. I always prioritize sound healing in Pisces season. They give me a very siren vibe. I hope you enjoy. I recommend headphones.
See you next week! - Cat
