“To learn what we fear is to learn who we are. Horror defies our boundaries and illuminates our souls.”― Shirley Jackson, The Haunting of Hill House
Ever since Venus moved into Pisces, my dreams have felt like tiny puzzles inside of themselves. In many of them is my old home. Sometimes it’s the same, other times it’s altered, but it kept making me think of this scene of Nell dancing in complete silence in her Hill House. I plan to write more about Haunting of Hill House on my other substack if you want to read.
I’ve been facing a lot of fear lately. Learning to speak to my needs and what has hurt me or made me feel small is agonizing. Some days I wake up wishing I could sew my mouth shut. But running can only last so long. Many shifts are happening inside my world and outside of it. Six more weeks and I will experience a spring awakening.
Water Magic has been my source of inspiration, purification and study. Before I went to the woods last weekend, I drifted to sleep asking my guides for signs to be revealed.
To my delight, they took that extremely literally and provided several. One of which, was a mountain spring. I filled a bottle and took a swig. The clarity I felt moving through my body was electrifying. I bottled as much as my arms could carry and brought some home until my next visit. The first time I ever experienced truly clean water was in the Nordic Fjords when I was singing there in 2017. Our entire choir was speechless at how incredible it was. We brought home bottles and sparingly sipped the “magic norway water” in our rehearsals almost as a ritual pact.
From 2018- present there has been a great drought in my spirit.
I open myself to be renewed.
There are multiple ways to use natural water in your workings:
Place water on your altar and pray over it. Leave it overnight to be blessed by your guides and ancestors to work with.
Cleanse your third eye by tracing water on your forehead
Likewise, tracing water sigils across your skin can be used
Use the water and maybe drops of ink or food coloring if you wish for water scrying
The water In your venus/self care rituals
Mix in herbs for spiritual bath or shower
Cleansing spiritual tools and crystals
The following day, I spent time by a silent lake with a dam creating a waterfall from all the weeks of rain. I found a shell that I felt compelled to take back with me sitting right next to the waterfall. As I walked away, I turned to face the sky and birds above as the sun set:
The clouds were moving quickly. A stark contrast to my feelings. The word “passing” kept repeating in my brain. I reminded myself that feelings and circumstances do pass even if the process is excruciatingly uncomfortable.
That night, I communicated clearly my true deep emotion for the first time in…a while. The dam broke.
I’m excited to continue my journey with water magic and healing and share with yall.
Writing has been tough for me to be consistent with, but I’m working at that behind the scenes. Hibernation is still needed for a bit. If you haven’t heard from me much don’t take it personally.
My Valentine Tarot Offering:
I almost didn’t do a V Day offering this year, but since desire is a focus in my life, it felt right to offer the reading in this format. I’m excited to do these!
